Statement by Adama Dieng, United Nations Special Adviser of the Secretary-General on the Prevention of Genocide, on his visit to the Democratic Republic of the Congo

UN Special Advisor of the Secretary General on the Prevention of Genocide Adama Dieng released a statement on 24 June 2017 describing his visit to DRC amid concerns over the deteriorating situation in the region. Adama’s visit to the Kasai region revealed a number of atrocities and evidence of destruction and war crimes, prompting urge to dissent this information and “prioritize dialogue” between the parties of the conflict.
