ICRtoP publishes new educational tool for civil society:
RtoP and…Exploring the Relationship Between RtoP and Your Sector

The Coalition’s newest publication, RtoP and…Exploring the Relationship Between RtoP and Your Sector, examines how the Responsibility to Protect (RtoP, R2P) norm relates to the range of sectors in which civil society actors – including non-governmental organizations, academia, and the media – are already actively working to prevent and protect populations from the commission of genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and ethnic cleansing. The norm shares natural linkages with a variety of different sectors, including:

• Conflict Prevention
• Human Rights
• Humanitarian Assistance
• International and Regional Justice
• Peacebuilding
• Proliferation and Trade of Small Arms and Other Weapons
• Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflict
• Women, Peace and Security

The ICRtoP hopes this publication will help civil society organizations in their efforts to increase understanding of how these sectors relate to the prevention of RtoP crimes.

If your organization would like to be in touch to share about your work in any of these sectors and to learn more about the ICRtoP, please do not hesitate to be in touch with our Outreach Officer, Megan Schmidt, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
