Statement of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on the situation in Aleppo, Syria.

On 21 October, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, met with the Human Rights Council in Geneva to discuss the dire situation in Syria. He expressed his concern for the people in Aleppo and noted that the siege and bombardment of the area “constitutes crimes of historic proportions” and called for an immediate ceasefire as well as accountability for those guilty of war crimes.
